It is mothers day today and it was a hard decision to make but I choose not to spend the day with my boys but to do something I have wanted to do for some time and that was learning to weave. The opportunity came up and basically hit me in the face and truly I am so glad it did..
I'm home now sitting in front of the fire still reliving the day with great memories, I'm so happy I went.
I not only learnt the basics of weaving but I spent the day with lovely new people we all had our own little project and as we went on with yes some little help from kamala we ate, drank, teach, ate yummy food and had a little wonder around Jen and Gai's North Farm.
I was slightly surprised but so grateful Kamala had cooked gluten free and veggo meals. I usually bring snacks just in case. I don't like putting people out because I cant eat anything haha. I am veggo and Gluten free not to be cool (it seems its the new fad) but because I read a book a year ago called (The Ethics of what we eat) and I'm Gluten free because I have Celiac disease (more about that in another post).
Any way The day was so wonderful and it was exactly what I was after and in so many ways what I needed.
We sat around and weaved while talking about all sorts of subjects. I enjoyed making the table of people laugh as usual and they made me also laugh. Sometimes we sat in quiet, sometimes we had group talks and others like myself and Jen had our own little discussions. I love that in Bellingen I really feel apart of this community and that's something my family and I have craved for so long. People really care about you and your story and generally how you are. They want to listen and hear and I tell you that's refreshing and how I think life should be.
The weather was so warm and when it wasn't we had a nice fire near by to warm us up or yet another cup of tea.
So not only did I have a great time but I got to eat amazing home cooked meals we had Coconut macaroons, Goats feta quiches, salad, soup, bread, the most amazing Chocolate cake and 4 cups of tea. All cooked by our very creative instructor Kamala (Bloody over achievers) they are everywhere in this town. I also had the chance to yet meet more people and hear how some of them ended up in Bello. Jen told us a story about a person that said the only negative thing about Bellingen is that you have caliscous from constantly having to cut greenery and plants back because the shit just doesn't stop growing.
So now after a great day I have new skills and I'm excited to make some awesome wall hangers for my home and for the shop and for friends.
Oh yes Mothers day it was lovely waking up to Finton pointing out that I have lots of skin around ,my neck and its so wrinkly. I then went on to ask him what's his favourite thing about me and he told me my toes, feet and he loves my fat bum. He then went into song about mothers day it got louder and louder and he asked Ben to join in. I must say it was hilarious.
Ben made my favourite pancakes, ice cream and strawberries with mayple syrup then a super quick shower and I was out there door.
Usually the boys buy me the best pressies but this year I asked for nothing and I meant it. All I wanted was to go to the weaving workshop. Although Brai did buy me a little worry doll and Fin made me a love heart made from clay that I intend on wearing on some leather. Ben made one of my favourite meals and he also made me a cake. I love cake! It was a little dry but its ok we made it clear while making out it was choking us and pretending to feed it to pee-kay ( dog).
I had an awesome mothers day!!!
